It looks like Warner Music Group and Rotana Music will be swapping playlists pretty soon.
The American music giant invested in the Middle East’s largest record label, which is owned by Saudi Arabian Prince Alwaleed bin Talal. The deal means that Warner Music will be able to distribute Rotana’s music portfolio on a global scale. Rumor has it that the deal’s value was in the eight-digit figure range for a minority stake, but the juicy details were not officially revealed.
Rotana Music’s headquarters are in Riyadh and it manages some of MENA’s most popular artists, including Lebanese singer Elissa and Saudi Arabian star Mohammed Abdo.
