London….. Eye came. Eye saw. Eye conquered – said by none other than Shell (RDSA). The oil giant’s looking to wrap up its complex dual structure and shift its HQ from Germany to London, because who doesn't want more simplicity in life these days.
No, but really, it was to simplify its structure to boost shareholders' payouts. Let's hope there's nothing personal behind-the-scenes though — Shell is dropping the "Royal Dutch" from its name. Moving forward, it'll be calling itself simply: Shell Plc.
Why it matters
This move isn't too uncommon given that Unilever (ULVR) did the same last year when it got rid of its dual Anglo-Dutch structure in favor of a single London listing.
