How about a Gap NFT hoodie?

Why sell physical hoodies when you can sell digital ones? Gap (GPS) has become the latest clothing retailer to jump on the NFT train, rolling out a collection of digital hoodie art on the Tezos blockchain in collaboration with Frank Ape artist Brandon Sines.

In an attempt to gamify the experience for its customers, Gap will allow them to collect the digital hoodie art at four different levels of rarity and price points. “Common” level pieces are available now, while “rare”, “epic”, and “one-of-a-kind” tiers will be rolled out over the coming weeks. Customers who purchase an “epic” level piece will receive a physical Frank Ape-inspired hoodie to boot.

This isn’t the first time Gap has released a special edition clothing drop. Last September, the clothing retailer dropped the Yeezy Gap Hoodie which resulted in the most sales of an item in a single day.

Why it matters

Gap's NFT drop is another big step away from the brick-and-mortar business model the company was founded on. Other clothing retailers like Nike (NKE) and Adidas are also following the trend and have released their own NFT collections.
