Dubai's Expo 2020 will reopen and be renamed Expo City Dubai, a "city of the future" featuring homes, companies, and leisure amenities as part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.
The $7b building on Dubai's outskirts will house offices for Dubai port operator DP World and German corporation Siemens, which was developed specifically for the six-month Expo that ended in March.
Expo City Dubai will open on October 1st 2022, and will be a 'green city'. The UAE pavilion and Al-Wasl Dome, the Expo centerpiece illuminated by colorful projections, will be among the nearly 80% of original structures and infrastructure that will remain. In addition, the site's Opportunity Pavilion, Al Wasl Plaza, and Garden in the Sky observation tower will also remain.
The site will host start-ups and small and medium-sized businesses, in addition to DP World and Siemens. Offices, leisure facilities, food and entertainment venues, sports facilities, and a mall will all be available on the site.
