Thuraya goes Danish

Teamwork makes the dream work – at least that’s what seems to be Thuraya’s powerful mantra to making it BIG. UAE’s homegrown mobile satellite operator (and subsidiary of Yahsat, which is publicly listed) has checked off a huge milestone in its 4-NGS partnership with Cobham SATCOM, a Danish satellite service provider, to power up its next-gen mobile broadband system and connect people across land, sea, and… space?!

How will this partnership work? You see, Cobham will be taking the lead in distributing Thuraya Next Generation Broadband Products (NGBP) for 5 years and offering its specialized tech knowledge to boost Thuraya’s satellite services with 4G and 5G capabilities and features. The end result? An $80m win in revenue for leveling up on its extraterrestrial network capabilities.

Why it matters

Thuraya’s goal is simple: convince the world to stay connected (even when isolated, or while working). With partnerships involving Airbus (AIR) and SpaceX, who are determined to keep you reachable no matter where you are (quite literally) — could this signal the next phase of "future of work"?
