It’s Acquisition Tuesday here at Baraka, it seems! The EU is finally giving its stamp of approval on Microsoft’s acquisition of ZeniMax. Microsoft shelled out $7.5b for ZeniMax to move in.
ZeniMax is the parent company of Bethesda Softworks, which is one of the world’s largest developers and publishers in the gaming industry (the brains behind Xbox and classic franchises such as Fallout and The Elder Scrolls).
This means that Microsoft has scored an impressive gaming portfolio, high-end technology, and some of the world’s best game-development talent. Bethesda’s new cloud-gaming service Xbox Game Pass also has huge potential, and Microsoft is cleverly already planning to add games to it.
